LINDFIELD RURAL PARISH COUNCIL / LINDFIELD PARISH COUNCIL
EXTRAORDINARY MEETING 22 APRIL 2009
PROPOSALS TO BUILD 760 HOMES – SITE K
RESIDENTS MAY WISH TO CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING STATEMENTS AND WRITE TO MID SUSSEX DISTRICT COUNCIL
Planning Policy Division, Oaklands Road, Haywards Heath, West Sussex, RH16 1SS
SITE OVERLOOKS THE HISTORIC VILLAGE OF LINDFIELD
With the site on such high land will a development enhance the appearance of the village?
INFRASTRUCTURE REQUIRMENTS
Has Mid Sussex District Council underestimated the requirements for schools, medical services, utility services etc? Do we have sufficient places for children in our schools?
ROADS
The route along Scaynes Hill Road is already the route to the north from the A272.
Gravelye Lane traffic has an average speed in excess of 40mph and is an emergency route to the Princess Royal Hospital.
Are these roads suitable to accommodate the extra traffic?
760 DWELLINGS is an increase in housing for the whole of Lindfield of approximately 25%.
LINDFIELD IS IN DECLINE
We have lost two banks and several shops and we need new housing developments to re-vitalise the village!
This was the essence of a recent statement from a local property developer.
760 HOMES – how many extra cars and residents?
FLOODING AND DRAINAGE
Dwellings around the Scrase Brook are already vulnerable to flooding including Croxton Lane, Meadow Drive, Noah’s Ark Lane and Walstead.
With soakaways already at capacity will holding tanks be sufficient to reduce flooding in the area?
THE HAMLET OF WALSTEAD
Would it cease to exist as an individual housing entity and be joined to Lindfield?
